AMS-Galaxy-USA's Board of Directors is pleased to announce Bradley Biehl has been named Vice President, Engineering and Operations, effective August 4, 2014.

Biehl brings hands-on technical expertise to the already high powered leadership team of President and CEO Dennis Milhoan and CFO Fonda Rowe, who founded the company in 2011 with the unveiling of the breakout 2-box / 1-arm Astrea 20.20 automatic milking system (AMS) from the Netherlands. They added the Urban line of calf feeding systems from Germany in 2012.

In addition to providing management support to his family`s robotic dairy farm in Kutztown, Pa., Biehl is an accomplished engineer and business leader, bringing an ideal combination of technical expertise, agricultural background, and business leadership to oversee all aspects of after-sales support for the Astrea 20.20 robotic milking and Urban calf feeding systems.

A graduate of Penn State University with a B.S. and M.S. in mechanical engineering, Biehl has held various professional roles since 2001 in machinery engineering, maintenance management, project management and global strategic sourcing at a large industrial gas company headquartered in Pennsylvania`s Lehigh Valley.

"AMS-Galaxy-USA is a unique business with strategic dairy equipment that is being distributed and supported to a well-balanced nationwide footprint," said Biehl. "I am excited about the significant growth opportunities that lie ahead, driven by U.S. farm labor challenges, increasing cow numbers on family-owned farms, and the opportunity for dairy farms to use robotic technology to improve operational efficiency."

Biehl looks forward to this "opportunity to work with dealers, customers and future owners of the time-tested robotic milking products manufactured by the Hokofarm Group and the Urban automated calf feeding products," he said. "It is a tremendous privilege to partner with Dennis and Fonda to grow this company and extend these automation opportunities to dairy farmers through our growing network of dealers."

"Fonda and I are pleased to have Bradley join us as an owner and partner in AMS-Galaxy-USA. He is a seasoned professional with the leadership skills and technical expertise to take this company to the next level as a world class leader in customer service and product development," said Milhoan. "Bradley has the unique combination of a grassroots agricultural upbringing and 12 years of business experience in the global marketplace. His leadership will give our dealers, partners, and their dairymen customers, a product line and services that will increase their productivity and profitability."

In addition to the range of Urban calf feeding systems in operation throughout the U.S., the 2-box / 1-arm Astrea 20.20 robotic milking system is now operating on farms in Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota. Recorded data earlier this summer showed these units featuring one robotic arm milking 112 to 120 cows accomplished 2.7 to 3.1 milkings/cow/day with production over 80 pounds/cow/day.

Producers are invited to talk with Biehl and members of the AMS-Galaxy-USA dealer network while seeing these technologies demonstrated in the newly constructed New Holland Pavilion at World Dairy Expo September 30 to October 4 (Booth # 807-836) in Madison, Wisconsin.
